World Children’s Day – A Reflection

With November being World Prematurity Awareness Month and November having World Prematurity Day and World Children’s Day; it made me reflect.

I have dedicated a great deal of my life to the welfare of children. I have worn many hats throughout the years, and it started early on as a camp counselor and babysitter. Later, I became an early childhood education teacher, professional nanny, newborn care specialist, and in the last few years, a doula and advocate for children and families. I now proudly serve as the Director of Advocacy for the US Nanny Association and Vice President of the Nanny Sitter Education Fund

I’ve given countless seminars and worked with countless parents, children, nannies, and just caring human beings who want to learn about child development and education because they want to be the best parents, nannies, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, godparents, or individuals they can be for the children in their lives.

And I can undoubtedly say it’s because I genuinely love children and see their potential. Which is absolutely true. But if I’m being completely honest, it’s also because I don’t want the traumas and fears that I endured as a child to ever hinder another child or family again.

I know it’s a tall order, but it’s also one where we can all come together and do our part for future generations. Because children depend on all of us.

If you would like to schedule any of the following seminars: Child Nutrition & Raising Healthy Eaters, Positive Discipline, The Importance of Play, Preventing Child Abuse & Human Trafficking, and Bullying Prevention please email me at: MirellaAlexis101@gmail.com
